iFileSearch (http://www.unipg.it/carlo/apps/ifilesearch) is the easiest way to search for files on Internet in a desired format (fully supporting the new iOS which enables iFileSearch of showing a new friendly modality for the presentation of any pdf document found, see the screenshots section).

In particular, by relying on the powerful Google search capabilities, iFileSearch allows you to squeeze out the whole Internet network for finding and managing books, presentations, manuals and so on:

- Are you searching for free e-books in pdf format (then for example importing them into iBooks)?
- Or Powerpoint presentations related to specific topics in order to grab some slides (e.g. in both Windows and Mac formats)?
- Or different kinds of Microsoft documents (as for example Word-related and/or Excel spreadsheets)?
- Rather than plain ascii files (for example containing technical instructions on how to install and configure a particular program)?

iFileSearch, a new universal iPhone / iPod / iPad application, will ask you to just specify a simple keywords list choosing one or more (or all) desired formats as well.

At present the supported file formats for searching are:

- Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf)
- Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Text (.asc, .txt, .text)
- Adobe PostScript (.ps)
- Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
- Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
- Write Document (.wri)

Usage Examples (see also the app screenshots):

1. Search the pdf version of the book ‘Alice in Wonderland’ written by L. Carroll by specifying as keywords the three words ‘alice wonderland carroll’ on the related field then enabling only the Pdf documents switch. Now press the button ‘Search’ and that’s it: select the first result entry to open the original version of the book then managing it as you prefer.

2. Find several presentations (in both ppt or pptx format) on the field of Grid Computing (for example by just specifying ‘grid computing’ as keywords enabling only the Ppt documents switch) in order to copy some images and/or complete slides.
